Audi is expanding its e-Tron electric vehicle lineup, and the A6 e-Tron, a stylish sedan with all of the brand’s cutting-edge technology, will be the next to emerge. In the second half of 2022, it is expected to be introduced and launched. 

The electric version of the Audi A6 car made a surprise debut at the Shanghai auto show. Audi hasn’t given us a look inside the A6 e-Tron yet, but we’re expecting a full suite of infotainment capabilities, high-end materials, and ample interior space for four adults to travel in comfort. The production version of the Audi A6 e-Tron is expected to arrive in 2022 and go on sale in early 2023.

What’s New in the Audi A6 e-Tron?

The A6 e-Tron will be a whole new model for Audi, joining the Q4 e-Tron SUV and the e-Tron GT sports sedan as e-Tron vehicles. Audi hasn’t announced pricing for the A6 e-Tron yet, but we expect it to be comparable with the similarly sized Tesla Model S. The electric coupe has a WLTP range of 700 kilometres on a single charge. 

Unfortunately, Audi has not revealed any information about the interior, but we anticipate more information in the coming months.

Platform and powertrain of the Audi A6 e-Tron 

The A6 E-Tron is built on a new platform developed in collaboration with Porsche. For the foreseeable future, the Premium Platform Electric, or PPE, will underpin all electric Audis, as well as Porsches and Bentleys. This modular architecture can accommodate single-motor rear-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrains, as well as charging speeds of up to 270 kW. The 2021 Audi E-Tron SUV has a WLTP range of 248 miles, but an EPA range of 222 miles.

When the 2024 Audi A6 E-Tron goes on sale in the United States, expect it to get north of 300 miles on the EPA cycle. If you can find a charging station that can handle 270 kW, 10 minutes of charging is said to add 186 miles of range. According to Audi, charging the battery pack from 5 to 80 percent takes as little as 25 minutes on the charger.
